Barbara Crenshaw
The general populace moves far too slow and is entirely too complacent about cultural change. If Barbara had her way, the men of the town would band together and go after the local bootleggers, to run them out of town. Surely there wouldn't be a shootout...or a battle. Or, well, maybe her daddy has a point that politics is a better way. Or maybe a little activist journalism would do the trick. Whatever she figures out, meeting the new girl in town stirs up a whole harvest of ideas in Barbara's mind of how she might wake people up and move them to action. What could go wrong?
