Meet Blix!

Mendilya Kirksey was born under unusual circumstances - at least for her time. Her mother isolated herself, nursed herself through a pregnancy, went to a midwife, and delivered the child in a quiet, secluded room. So, unusual. Fiara Kirksey did not report her pregnancy to the local authorities, as required by law. She didn't let them extricate the fertilized egg and transfer it to an artificial womb. The child didn't spring into existence in a lab, a result of egg harvesting and managed by the requisite technology. Instead, her child grew from Fiara's love for her life-long friend, Grigor. Therefore, Lya was born in an illegal Remnant colony, and she was raised among the Deplorables - outcasts who had survived the Culling, broken or deformed, and conspicuous if they ever left the Dregs. Lya, though, holds some qualities that set her apart from the Deplorables. Lya can blend into the Permanence. And thus is born her alter ego, Blix, the Deplorable who masquerades as a Partisan and plays the liaison for her people. At least, for her people until she uncovers the dark secret of the Permanence - that its people need deliverance as much as her own.
